LAWN bOWLING
a TRY at Beeton.

Welcome!

Due to the COVID 19 virus, we are following instructions for social distancing at this time and may not be able to open at the end of May, 2020, as planned.  Please continue to watch this site for updates.

We are an enthusiastic group of bowlers in Beeton, Ontario, Canada.

We would love to have you visit our club. Please use the contact information below to arrange your visit.

Thank you for joining us for the 2019 Season.  We look forward to another great season in 2020.  Have a safe and healthy Winter.
Our last jobs of the year are the coring of the greens and closing down the Club House.
This took place on Saturday, September 21st at 7 am and continued through until 3 pm.  This is a very difficult and labour intensive day and we thank all the volunteers who came out to help - Coring: Ross R, Rich M, Tony C, Wayne B, Wayne C, and Walt.  Our students helping out with this today were Kaelan Benjamin and Zachary Prime.  George Bannerman from Sports Turf Magic has been doing our coring for the past 25 years and continues to do a great job.  Once George removes the plugs on the greens, our volunteers then scrape them into piles and lift them into the trailer behind the little tractor.  This is hard work and it was an unusually hot day today.
While all this was going on, Liz B, Susan Z, and Pat C were busy cleaning up inside the Club House and making sure everything was clean for our Winter lock down.
Thank you to those who provided great food for the hard workers - Soup from Robert & Irene F; Sandwiches from Pat and Wayne C and Anna Marie V; Fruit and Nut loaf from Debbie M; Butter Tarts from Rich M; and Bags of Chips from Sharon P and Rick S.  These were enjoyed by all and helped keep that energy level up.

On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, we had our last official game of the season.  It was a beautiful evening and everyone really enjoyed themselves.  Thanks everyone for a great year of lawn bowling.  It's wonderful to see you all come out for an evening of fun and camaraderie with lots of laughs and great competition.

We look forward to seeing you all in 2020.  Be well and lawn bowl.  Winter bowling will take place on Wednesday afternoons at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston from 1 to 3 pm.  Come out and join us.

2019 Season began on Monday, May 28th at 6:45.  We had a great turn out and all who came out to join us for a game of lawn bowls had a good evening with lots of fun and laughter.

On Mondays we have organized bowling at 6:45 pm and then have light snacks, prepared by the members.  On Thursdays we have organized bowling at 6:45 pm.

Looking for some light exercise in a friendly environment?  Why not come out and try lawn bowling with us.  It's like curling on grass.
All of our benches, the Shed, and the windows got a very nice face lift.  Thank you to all the painters - Kaelan, Joseph, and Austin, our Student volunteers; Abigail, Brianna, and Sara Jane, our volunteers in training; and Walt P, Wayne C, and Tony C for getting projects finished.  All your hard work is appreciated and you did a wonderful job on freshening everything up.

We played at our last Inter Club Tournament of the season on August 21st, 2019 in Orillia and managed to hold on to 2nd Place overall.  Well done everyone who competed at all the Clubs.  It is a great experience.
Joan M, Wendy S, Bill S, and Walt P represented the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club at the Inter-Club Event in Midland this week.  They played very well and got the Club back into 1st place in a tie with Barrie.  Well done everyone.

Joan M and Wendy S have been very busy this year.

On June 29th, they took part in the Provincial Pairs at Dresden LBC.  They were to play at the Tilbury LBC but that Club is experiencing flooding problems  and as a result, they ended up playing in Dresden, which only has one green.  There was a men's Pair competing as well.  Although neither team made it to the medal rounds, it is felt they represented the District very well.

On June 26th, Joan M, Wendy S, and Elaine S played in Georgetown for the Betty Barclay Trophy and took home a Trophy for High 3 Game Winners.  Congratulations.

On June 12th, Joan M and Wendy S played in the Noble Insurance and Re-Max Tournament at Stayner and came in 2nde over all.  There were 14 teams playing and they took home a Trophy as the top 2 Game Winners.  Well done.

We held our Annual Trillium Ford Bowling Tournament on July 25th.  The weather was fantastic and everyone had a great time.  Look under more..., Events & Results, and Beeton Events, for details and pictures.  Thank you all for coming out and making this day a great success.

On Saturday, June 2nd, 2018, we celebrated National Bowls Day with an Open House.  We had snacks and refreshments and everyone that came out had a good time.

Summer 2018 - Zachary and Tyler Prime build up their Community Hours by finishing the installation of new sand in the ditches, and re-purposing old equipment.  Zachery had 3 friends who observed but did not contribute.  They were able to complete everything by this weekend and we thank them very much for all their hard work.

Summer 2018 - Walt is training his new greens staff early.  Nothing like planning ahead.
The twins Brianna and Abagail are helped by their older sister Sarah Jane as they search the greens for weeds.

Opening night May 28th, 2018 went very well.  We had a great turnout and it was a very hot evening.  Everyone had a good time and the new bowlers got instructions from Joan Marks.  A big thank you to Joan.

Robert was very busy during October, 2017 and the Spring of 2018.
He build bowls cubboards so that all members would have a spot to store their bowls and not have to take them home every week.
They were all installed by Opening night and everyone was very happy with the space.  He also made a compact coffee cubboard for the pots and mugs.

May 2018 - Well Spring sprucing up has begun.  Wayne Butler, Wayne Callan, and Walton Prime have been busy working on the greens.  Irene refreshed the Club sign with a new coat of paint.  Wayne B and Walt Prime repainted the lane numbers.  We are going to be all ready for May 28th opening day.

Another great year of bowling comes to an end.  We had our final bowling event of the season on Monday, October 3rd, 2017.  Everyone had a great time.  We were able to get in one game before our AGM.

Our Election of Officials resulted in Irene Foster as President; Pat Callan as 1st Vice President; and Debbie Morrison as 2nd Vice President.

The pot luck dinner was wonderful and everyone did a great job in preparing delights.

We will be doing the closing up of the club on October 14th and all help is appreciated.

We are looking forward to another great year of bowling in 2018.

Thank you everyone for helping with the Spring Cleaning.  Even Mother Nature co-operated.

We celebrated our Opening Day on May 29th and were delighted with all those who came out.  We also celebrated our 85th Anniversary.  Thank you to Bill and Sandra for the delicious snacks and to Pat and Wayne for the ice cream.  Because of the rain, we were unable to bowl but all had a good time catching up.
