September 9th, 2018, we held our final Pizza Day of the year.  We presented the John Summerville Memorial Trophy to Ross, the high scorer for the day.

It was a cool day but Mother Nature co-operated and we had no rain.  It was a fun day for everyone and good times were had by all.

Ross took First Place and was awarded the John Summerville Memorial Trophy.
Joan S and Jim M tied for 2nd; Bill S placed 3rd; Sandra S placed 4th; Chris placed 5th; Doreen placed 6th; and Marg N and Marg S tied for low score.

Our thanks to Jim M, Marg N, and Marg S for their help with preparing the coffee and tea.

Everyone enjoyed the Pizza and we look forward to doing the same in 2019.

September 2nd, 2018, we held our 2nd Pizza Day this year.  We presented the George Mara Memorial Trophy to Pat C., the high scorer for the day.

Although it was extremely hot, we had the occasional breeze and a few clouds blew in to cool the bowlers.  Everyone enjoyed the play and the camaraderie.  Teasing and laughter  could be heard throughout the play and all had a good time.

Pat took first place for top score and was awarded the George Mara Memorial Trophy for her efforts.  Dawn placed a respectable 2nd with Jim M, Wayne C, and Walt tying for 3rd.  Debbie M, Joan M, and Robert F tied for 4th place.

The pizza was enjoyed by all.

The ladies went down to Etobicoke on the Friday night to register.   We got to practice on the greens to get a feel for them.  We stayed there until Sunday.  The hosting Club provided breakfasts and lunches.

At 8 am, on Saturday, we were piped on the greens, ( just as they do in curling.)  Then they gave out our pins & pennants for having won the district championship.  (There are 16 districts in Ont. & the winners of each district, then  play off  in the Provincials).  Then they have the opening ceremonies with the dignitaries etc from that town.  In our case it was Etobicoke.

Saturday we played 3 games -  each  16 ends.  We also had 2 ends extra of practice before each game, to learn how the greens played.

On Sunday we played 2 games of 16 ends each (+2  practice).  We were in a 3 way tie for 2nd place, so had to play a 4 end tie breaker against Belleville.  We tied them. so we had to play an extra end, which we won.

Then we had to play the other tie breaker against Niagara Falls and won that one.  Then we played the gold, silver play off game - 16 ends +2 against Hanover, and we won the gold medal.

That was a 12 hour day on the greens, in the hot 30 degree sun -  difficult but rewarding.
