Click here to Beeton Lawn Bowling Club 91st AnniversarySimcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson extended greetings to members of the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club on behalf of the Province of Ontario and the people of Simcoe-Grey in recognition of the club celebrating its 91st Anniversary.
“This historic occasion certainly demonstrates the strength of Beeton’s unwavering community spirit. For generations, the club has provided recreational activities and fellowship to residents. The longevity of the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club is truly remarkable, and clearly, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the many volunteers, the success story will continue to play out for years to come” said MPP Saunderson. “In addition, we are celebrating club improvements made possible by a $15,300 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2022. These funds helped the club purchase a greens shaver mower and de-thatcher. This equipment will help the club maintain its reputation of providing an excellent playing surface” Saunderson added. Congratulations to Debbie Morrison, President of the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club, members and volunteers on this remarkable anniversary. The crew ended up painting the bin. Originally, they asked Sue if she would knit or crochet a cover but she immediately said, “I think knot!”
Here’s Walt doing his favourite bowling activity-working around the club house! He was going to include another photo but he thought it might make him the butt of a joke!
Many shovels make light work BUT that applies only for coring NOT for Canadian winters!

Some Essential Details!
Our summer volunteer
Riley
!!!!!!
Riley introduced herself to the lawn bowling club in order to complete some volunteer hours while she was in high school. We immediately set her to work trimming grass and pulling weeds! We were surprised to discover that she already has over 100 hours of volunteer service to her credit! (But we did keep her)(she’s a great worker)
This is a young woman who takes volunteering seriously! She is planning to ride in a cancer fund raiser in August and has already increased her riding pledge! Did you notice the shirt she wore for her “official” picture?
Our first Pizza Day in two years was held on August 1st, 2021. We had 25 people turn out and all had a good time. The rain held off until after play. The covered patio was much appreciated as we could gather outside and Socially Distance.
Thanks to the organizers Pat C and Deb M and the Drawmaster Wayne B.

We had a very good turn out last night. There were 21 bowlers and all had a good time with friendly competition and some laughs. It was so good to see players we hadn't seen for a couple of years.

Good news, lawn bowlers. Come out and lawn bowl at Beeton Lawn Bowling Club! Let's have some fun on the greens.
The Province has moved to Stage 2 of COVID restrictions and as a result, we are allowed to have up to 25 bowlers out at a time. Beeton Lawn Bowling Club will now be open on Mondays and Thursdays for lawn bowling at 7 pm (weather permitting). We ask that everyone arrives at least 15 minutes prior to that as there are protocols that must be followed.
Everyone must wear a mask upon entering the Club grounds. We will continue to take precautions for each other's safety.
At this time, we are not permitted to gather inside the Club House. We will follow all the protocols outlined by the Ontario Government and hopefully we can get back to our normal operation very soon.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone back out on the greens for some friendly competition and a lot of fun.
We are an enthusiastic group of bowlers in Beeton, Ontario, Canada.
We would love to have you visit our club. Please use the contact information below to arrange your visit.
Thank you for joining us for the 2019 Season. We look forward to another great season in 2020. Have a safe and healthy Winter.

Our last jobs of the year are the coring of the greens and closing down the Club House.
This took place on Saturday, September 21st at 7 am and continued through until 3 pm. This is a very difficult and labour intensive day and we thank all the volunteers who came out to help - Coring: Ross R, Rich M, Tony C, Wayne B, Wayne C, and Walt. Our students helping out with this today were Kaelan Benjamin and Zachary Prime. George Bannerman from Sports Turf Magic has been doing our coring for the past 25 years and continues to do a great job. Once George removes the plugs on the greens, our volunteers then scrape them into piles and lift them into the trailer behind the little tractor. This is hard work and it was an unusually hot day today.
While all this was going on, Liz B, Susan Z, and Pat C were busy cleaning up inside the Club House and making sure everything was clean for our Winter lock down.
Thank you to those who provided great food for the hard workers - Soup from Robert & Irene F; Sandwiches from Pat and Wayne C and Anna Marie V; Fruit and Nut loaf from Debbie M; Butter Tarts from Rich M; and Bags of Chips from Sharon P and Rick S. These were enjoyed by all and helped keep that energy level up.
On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, we had our last official game of the season. It was a beautiful evening and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Thanks everyone for a great year of lawn bowling. It's wonderful to see you all come out for an evening of fun and camaraderie with lots of laughs and great competition.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2020. Be well and lawn bowl. Winter bowling will take place on Wednesday afternoons at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston from 1 to 3 pm. Come out and join us.

All of our benches, the Shed, and the windows got a very nice face lift. Thank you to all the painters - Kaelan, Joseph, and Austin, our Student volunteers; Abigail, Brianna, and Sara Jane, our volunteers in training; and Walt P, Wayne C, and Tony C for getting projects finished. All your hard work is appreciated and you did a wonderful job on freshening everything up.
We played at our last Inter Club Tournament of the season on August 21st, 2019 in Orillia and managed to hold on to 2nd Place overall. Well done everyone who competed at all the Clubs. It is a great experience.
Joan M, Wendy S, Bill S, and Walt P represented the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club at the Inter-Club Event in Midland this week. They played very well and got the Club back into 1st place in a tie with Barrie. Well done everyone.
Joan M and Wendy S have been very busy this year.
On June 29th, they took part in the Provincial Pairs at Dresden LBC. They were to play at the Tilbury LBC but that Club is experiencing flooding problems and as a result, they ended up playing in Dresden, which only has one green. There was a men's Pair competing as well. Although neither team made it to the medal rounds, it is felt they represented the District very well.
On June 26th, Joan M, Wendy S, and Elaine S played in Georgetown for the Betty Barclay Trophy and took home a Trophy for High 3 Game Winners. Congratulations.
On June 12th, Joan M and Wendy S played in the Noble Insurance and Re-Max Tournament at Stayner and came in 2nde over all. There were 14 teams playing and they took home a Trophy as the top 2 Game Winners. Well done.

Opening night May 28th, 2018 went very well. We had a great turnout and it was a very hot evening. Everyone had a good time and the new bowlers got instructions from Joan Marks. A big thank you to Joan.
Robert was very busy during October, 2017 and the Spring of 2018.
He build bowls cubboards so that all members would have a spot to store their bowls and not have to take them home every week.
They were all installed by Opening night and everyone was very happy with the space. He also made a compact coffee cubboard for the pots and mugs.
